Hanging garden

The external space serves a double function: as an entrance to the housing unit and terrace. The aim of the project to create a small oasis of green on the last floor of a building in the centre of town and to make the passage welcoming from the condominium stairs, the point of arrival at the terrace, to the inside domestic space. The walls, as also the walls facing the inner courtyard, have been completely covered with plants; fox grape and bamboo mark the entrance to the building. The day zone has been placed in the point in which the space widens out. A double wall of corten steel with a metal net against the entrance wall with a line of flower boxes and, at the back, among the climbing plants conceals the structure that holds up the trellis covered with wysteria. Below the trellis we find a steel ledge painted white designed to hold flowers or aromatic plants. The essential herbs planted there turn a different colour during each season of the year.
